Continuing his study in the book of Habakkuk (חֲבַקּוּק), Brother Gideon Levytam explores the prophet's powerful prayer in chapter three. After grappling with God’s methods of justice in the first two chapters, Habakkuk now witnesses a majestic vision of the Lord’s future coming. Gideon delves into the dramatic imagery of verses 8-15, where the mountains tremble, the seas roar, and the sun and moon stand still before the mighty power of God. This passage is revealed not merely as a reflection on God's past deeds, like the Exodus, but as a stunning prophecy of the second coming of Yeshua the Messiah. Gideon explains how the Lord will march forth in righteous indignation to judge the nations and their wicked leader, the Antichrist. Yet, in the midst of this awesome wrath, God's ultimate purpose is redemptive: to bring "salvation with thine anointed" (Habakkuk 3:13), fulfilling His everlasting covenant promises to His people Israel.
